Friday Quick Caption is a weekly update of quick links and blurbs from the world of entertainment news. Expect your fast pace, A.D.D. dose of movie trailers, comic news, celebrity updates, and video game announcement from throughout the week.
An Ultimate Hint of Things to Come – Sara Pichelli and the fine people over at Marvel’s website have provided us with a taste of the upcoming Ultimate Spider-man #1 via some rather awesome design sketches. Check out Sara’s ultimate sketchbook and don’t forget to pick up a copy of Ultimate Spider-man #1 starring the new Black/Hispanic Spider-man, Miles Morales, on September 14th!
Google Gets Gamers – Google Plus is now going after gamers with the social networks new addition. If you liked the many games that Facebook and smart phones provided you before…then you’ll probably enjoy the exact same things on Google Plus. Its nothing new and nothing special, but it’s a new place to play the same old things.
The Uncensored Mouse and Jim – Jim Korkis, a well known Disney historian, wrote a rather enlightening piece on the history of the Uncensored Mouse comics from Malibu and Eternity comics. It discusses the short lived series from the late 80’s, as well as containing the entire foreword Jim had written for issue 2 and the unpublished issue 3. Well worth the read if you’re a fan of Disney or comic history.
Mr. Cho and the Women – Frank Cho is back with big release plans over the next year. Just the other day on his always amusing blog, Apes and Babes, Frank announced his publishing plans for the next year. This includes more Jungle Queen (with full on nudity, as pictured) from a French publisher, Brutal and Guns & Dinos over at Image, and the big treat for all you Marvel and Cho fans? An X-men series starring 3 of Marvel’s hottest mutant women! Sadly only Brutal and Guns & Dinos have release dates, with Guns & Dinos hitting stores this November and Brutal coming out sometime in April 2012.
Live Q&A with Aniplex of America – Tonight at 7:30 PM PST Aniplex of America (distributors of the Gurren Lagann Movies, Rurouni Kenchin OVAs, and many more) will be doing a live streaming Q&A. The stream will be hosted on Nico Nico and allow viewers to ask questions in a panel style situation that should give all those watching a rather detailed listing of their upcoming releases and events.
Wolverine and some shillouettes – Marvel released the first peek at the cover to October’s Wolverine and the X-men #1. It’s hard to say for sure whose on the team (though guesses might go a long way), but we can certainly say Wolverine has never looked shorter and more animated.
