Fans of George RR Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire book series have undoubtedly been waiting throughout season 2 of the hit HBO series to see the epic battle of Blackwater. Well, thankfully the series producers are promising fans they will get just that. With episode 9 of the second season of Game of Thrones, we are told we can see the actual naval battle take place in the rivers of Blackwater without any quick cut aways or plot devices that have us returning to screen just after the fires smolder away and the battle is done. Best of all, this soon to be classic episode is actually written by George RR Martin himself!

Now while Game of Thrones watchers will have to sit through Sunday’s episode 8, The Prince of Winterfell, written by series creators, David Benioff & D. B. Weiss (who are responsible for many of the TV series changes from the books that have been driving fans mad), we have a treat for those of you waiting for the Blackwarter! Below is the first image from episode 9 of Game of Thrones season 2. It depicts Bronn, just outside of the Red Keep, holding a rather hot looking arrow. It’s not much, but its certainly enough to get me excited for next Sunday!

But for added fun, here is a preview for tomorrow’s episode!
