Activision currently has a release date of June 26th for their upcoming movie tie-in video game, The Amazing Spider-man. However, this isn’t just any movie video game, as it actually works as a direct sequel to the movie…despite coming out a week prior to the July 3rd film premier. The game takes place after Michael Morbius accesses the Oscorp research of Dr. Curt Connors (the Lizard) to create more cross-species experiments. Because of this, Spider-man will be running up against the Rhino, Iguana, and Black Cat. Oh, and there are some pretty gnarly spider-slayers (see the trailer below). The game is being written by Battlestar Galactica’s Seamus Kevin Fahey, which is instantly a good sign that the game might be better than the movie. Speaking of the movies, just as in the original trilogy of spider-man films, there are always 2 expected cameos to be made in Spider-man movie games, and Bruce Campbell already admitted to recording his pivotal role in the game. So what is Stan Lee’s role in the video game? Well, he’s playable character of course! Fans who pre-order the game from Amazon will get a special mission in game where Stan Lee is actually a playable character. The character’s legendary creator will have all his spidey powers and Stan’s unique and witty quips. The mission itself involves Stan webbing around New York to collect his missing script pages for a Spider-man comic. How incredibly cool is that? Even better is that completing this adventure unlocks you a special price (I’m guessing its whatever that Stan Lee script goes to).

Now this is in competition of the Gamestop pre-order reward, which is the Rhino Challenge. The Rhino Challenge allows you to rampage around as New York, crashing into taxi and the like to your hearts content. While that sounds like a lot of fun…Can you honestly beat web shooting around as Stan Lee? I just don’t think it’s possible. Amazon certainly seems to be stepping up with their pre-order bonuses, and this is the crowning one!
