Star Wars Dance Off 2012
Disney World’s Hollywood Studios theme park, in Orlando, Fl, is now celebrating their 15th annual Star Wars Weekends event. This event first began back in 1997 (only skipping the summer of 2002) as a way for Disney fans to have some Star Wars fun at the parks during summer. Event’s this year include:
- Jedi Training Academy (where young Padawans can learn to become Jedi)
- Carbon Freeze Me (Disney is scanning in fans and making small carbonite toys of them!)
- A Star Wars Parade
- Symphony in the Stars (fireworks to the John Williams’ music of Star Wars)
- Behind the Force (behind the scenes look at the Clone Wars cartoon)
- Obi-Wan & Beyond (a fun conversation with the Clone Wars cartoon’s James Arnold Taylor)
- Snig and Oopla’s Hyperspace Hoopla
Now the real fun of this event is during Snig and Oopla’s Hyperspace Hoopla, which features a Star Wars dance off. You’ve likely seen youtube videos before of classic and new Star Wars characters getting down to the likes of Guns & Roses and other modern rock, rap, and pop musical hits. This year the musical selection is rather unique, and beautifully un-Star Wars like. The songs picked out for these Star Wars characters, such as Chewbacca and Darth Vader, to dance to are:
- LL Cool J’s Momma Said Knock You Out
- LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It
- LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem
- Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal
- Timbaland’s The Way I Are
- The Wanted’s Glad You Came
- Britney Spears’ Till The World Ends
- Maroon 5′s Moves Like Jagger
- Nicki Minaj’s Starships
- Pitbull’s International Love
- Adele’s Rolling in the Deep
- Tomoyasu Hotei’s Battle Without Honor or Humanity
- Porcelain Black’s This is What Rock and Roll Looks Like
- Enrique Iglesias’ Tonight (which should’ve been the Break video version, I’m frakking you)
- FUN’s We Are Young
- Flo Rida’s Good Feeling
The even unfolds every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night until June 10, 2012. If you have a chance to check out, I highly recommend it! Of course, if you can’t make it there? Well, then you’ll just have to settle with these hilarious youtube clips of 5 of the performances below:
