It’s dark, it’s bloody, and it looks like Half-Life 2! It’s Dishonored, the upcoming game from Arkane Studios, published through Bethesda Software. Dishonored is a first person shooter-esque stealth assassination game in a Victorian steam punk style setting. With an extremely talented creative team, including Half-Life 2‘s Viktor Antonov and Deus Ex‘s Harvey Smith, this game is sure to look impressive. But you don’t have to take my word for it, as we have an early preview of the E3 trailer for you below:

The game follows Corvo Atano on his blood drenched quest for revenge against the Lord Regent, who framed him for the assassination of the Empress he once guarded. A Jack of all warfare, Corvo is talented with many weapons while also capable of using some rather unique super powers that mimic what some gamers might be used to from the technology in Half-Life. The game play leaves me with a feeling of Assassins Creed on a Half-Life 2 engine (though it uses a modified Unreal 3 engine), and gives me plenty of pleasant visuals thanks to the steam punk scenery/weapons and awesome cut scenes. For those who haven’t seen the game’s big cut scene trailer yet, we have a second look at it below:

Dishonor is set for North American release on October 9th, 2012, but check back here as we might have some new information for you as E3 begins next week.
