Webseries are quickly becoming the future of Geek media, as creators are less limited by the stupidity of what Hollywood believes fans want and is open to creativity of ambitious young film makers like Susan E. Clarke. Clarke developed a rather keen sounding post apocalyptic webseries, entitled Chronicles of Syntax, back in her UK university dorm room. Now, with a collection of highly talented and award winning creators, she is looking to bring her dream to life and place it online for all to enjoy. Chronicles of Syntax is a science fiction/fantasy series that Clarke is comparing to Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Final Fantasy. You can see in the trailer below that it certainly looks action packed and has some incredible music (you might even get tempted to leave their website open in another tab just to hear more of it).

Season one of Chronicles of Syntax is set in present day and revolves around Sian (later referred to as Syntax) and a secret government facility called the Fallen Angel Network. It is Sian’s job to beat down the bad guys and find the rest of her team, which sounds easy but these guys don’t remember ever being chosen, and there’s someone else trying to get to them first. Only when she gathers all the members of her team can she access memories sent back through time, information that could stop the oncoming apocalypse.

Each episode features a new character which they must find, gaining more members with unique skills along the way, as well as an ever-clearer picture of their combined destiny. The 12 episode series is a countdown to the end of the world and the team must unite to have any hope of avoiding it.

Chronicles of Syntax is set to go into production this September, but the cast and crew need your help. Right now there is an IndieGoGo fundraiser currently going to help the crew raise the 20,000 they need to create the series. Listen to Susan Clarke and company’s plea below then check out their IndieGoGo page and help if you can. The group is offering a rather large amount of keen rewards, including t-shirts, DVDs, props, and credits in the series.
