Robert Downey Jr. took the stage of Hall H at 6pm Saturday in full Tony Stark form to promote Marvel’s upcoming Iron Man 3. Walking down the hall in an Iron Man repulsor gauntlet to Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much, Robert Downey Jr. captured the crowds attention before showing off some incredible Iron Man 3 footage, which gave us a very awesome look at the Mandarin after an explosive scene at Tony Stark’s palatial beach front home. However, this was hardly all of Marvel’s movie news from San Diego Comic Con.

Captain America 2 got a new title this weekend, being announced as Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Set for a 2014 release, the story will be loosely based on the comic arc of the same name, written by Ed Brubaker back in 2005. Antony Mackie is in negotiations to sign on to the project as Cap’s new sidekick, we can only presume is Falcon. So expect to see a very Soviet style assassin plot with Bucky returning to the film as the movie’s antagonist.

Thor 2 also got a new name, being titles Thor: The Dark World. Bringing back most of the cast from the last Thor movie, we are hearing that Zachary Levi has signed on as Fandral. The film is set for a November 8, 2013 release date, under the direction of Alan Taylor.

Ant-Man is finally coming together under the long await direction of Edgar Wright. Test footage was shown this weekend at Comic Con, featuring the Ant-Man suit, which has aspects of the comic version (mainly in the helmet), but is quite new in other aspects. Footage shows him sneaking past a hallway of guards in his miniature form, and had a great reception amongst fans. Unfortunately there is no release date yet on the film, with very little information to share. Never-the-less, what has been seen looks great, so expect big news to follow.

And the big announcement comes in the form of Guardians of the Galaxy. With a release date of August 1st, 2014, the film will feature Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora (otherwise known as the 2008 team of Guardians which formed in Annihilation Conquest). Whether or not the story follows Conquest or one of the on-going series stories by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning is unknown, but expect more news to come shortly with that release date. Until then, enjoy the awesome concept art below.
