Homecoming #1 Preview
Homecoming is Aspen’s newest comic book series and a Michael Turner created one at that. Yes, the legendary comic creator is putting this beauty out posthumously with the story aids of Scott Lobdell and David Wohl. But unlike many of Turner’s other great stories, this one gets a little more…paranormal sci-fi like, with a high school twist as the name suggests. Yes, this series stars teenagers in high school, and nobody ever said being a teenager was easy…
Hunter Wilson, our protagonist, is just an average American teenager in an average American town, but when the beautiful and amnesiac Celeste arrives in his backyard, Hunter’s life changes forever. He discovers that Celeste had disappeared from that very house 10 years earlier, and now she’s back with little memory of who she was–but with strange, fantastic abilities and the knowledge that dark forces are rapidly approaching. Now, Hunter must help Celeste regain her memory while he tries to keep himself and his friends safe–and if that wasn’t difficult enough, Homecoming is just a week away and he doesn’t have a date to the dance yet! Oh my, the problem we all faced at that age.
The story of Homecoming comes from the amazing trio of Turner, Lobdell, and Wohl, but it is David Wohl who is actually handling the heavy lifting of scripting the series. At his side is the talented artists Emilio Lasio on pencil and inks, with Brett Smith and Stefani Renee handling the series’ colors. Aspen fans who attended San Diego Comic Con might have already got a chance to read the opening issue in the way of an incredibly sexy and exclusive variant edition of Homecoming #1 that was limited to just 300 copies. Everyone else can pick up a copy in comic stores this Wednesday, August 15th when the issue lands on comic shelves across the world. Until then, we have a great 5-page preview below that is packed with high school angst and a rather large…alien?!?
