Disney Purchases Lucasfilm LTD.
It has just been announced that right now Disney is looking to purchase Lucasfilm LTD. for $4.05 Billion USD. A lot is currently uncertain, with talks of Lucas being paid in a mixture of cash and Disney stocks in the buy out; the deal including not only the classic Star Wars franchise, but also other Lucasfilm LTD. businesses such as LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound; the potential for this deal to be much like the Marvel purchase, with the company remaining relatively untouched; and the promotion of Lucasfilm co-chairman, Kathleen Kennedy, to president of the company. The most recent news is that this deal will come off as a slow transition. How this will effect current Lucasfilm licensing agreements and the like is unknown. More to come soon.
