Journey Into Mystery #645 Preview
After the events of Mighty Thor #21, everything has burned…or at least the Everything Burns crossover event between Journey Into Mystery and Mighty Thor has ended. But Loki can’t let things go out like that, continuing the crossover for one final epilogue issue. The Everything Burns aftermath issue will be Loki’s swan song in Kieron Gillen’s run of Journey Into Mystery. The beloved era of kid Loki in Journey Into Mystery will end with issue #645 and be replaced with Kathryn Immonen and Valerio Schiti’s new era of the series, featuring Sif, in issue #646. But fans of Gillen’s kid Loki need not be depressed at his absence for too long, as Kieron is bringing Loki with him into the upcoming Young Avengers on-going this January. In fact, those of you who picked up Marvel Now! Point One #1 this past week already got a hint of it.
So why did Loki do it? What led to the young Asgardian god of mischief doing everything that has happened in the past 23-issues? No one knows…at least until now! Finally reasons are revealed and Loki’s future and past collide, leaving nothing to ever be the same again! Writer Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-men, Phonogram) is joined by artist Stephanie Hans (Womanthology: Space, Dark Tower: The Gunslinger – The Way Station) to wrap up Everything Burns and Loki’s tale in Journey Into Mystery. In the beginning, many of the answers ended up being “Loki.” Who brought the world to the brink of destruction and then died to save it? Loki. Who was resurrected through a contract with Hel, only to be found and brought to Asgardia by his brother, Thor? Loki. Who was the known loner who forged the closest of friendships with a girl named Leah, born from the right hand of Hela herself? Loki. And who began a game to better the world through trickery, used his infamous cunning and wit to convince and double-deal the villainous and destructive forces of the world, hoping to bring peace to the nine realms while salvaging a name once loathed and cursed throughout creation? Loki! But now the game is almost over, so who will win and who will lose? Well, you’ll have to read and find out the answer to that one. Check out the 4-page preview to Journey Into Mystery #645 below, and pick up the full issue when it hits stores this Wednesday.
