DC Entertainment is coming to WonderCon this year in a big way, as this is right before the comic publisher rolls forward with their new relaunch of #1 comics they’re titling DC: REBIRTH! Just a few short hours before today’s big DC Retailer Roadshow (the first of several) in Burbank, CA, DC has dropped the bombshell of June’s post-Convergence plans. What are they? Well, they involve 24 brand new comic series, a dropping of the New 52 branding, and some major creative team shake ups. This is certainly some interesting and, in a few cases, unexpected twists to the stories currently unfolding at DC. DC has some final issues set to come out this August along with some special one-shots. Continuing DC’s big summer event of the Trinity War, there is a Trinity War Directors Cut special which features Geoff John’s script and Ivan Reis’ penciles. You can also look forward to the huge Batman Inc Special with its solicit directly below. Sadly a few titles are on their final issue, so fans will have to say goodbye to great series like Legion of Super-heroes, Demon Knights, Dial H, and Threshold. It was announced a short while ago that Geoff Johns would be leaving Green Lantern, a title he’s written for almost 10 years, after the completion of his current ‘Wrath of the First Lantern’ storyline, which starts in Green Lantern #17. With the first issue of this story in stores today, DC has officially announced the new creative team set to replace Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke on Green Lantern, as well as the new creative teams for all of the Green Lantern titles. DC Comics has dropped quite a few little news tidbits this week, between new video games, annuals, etc. However, not all of it was big enough to deserve its own blog update. So today we have collected a series of new facts, photos, and details of recent DC announcements.
First off, today at ComicsPro in Dallas, TX it was announced that the DC comics Free Comic Book Day issue would feature a 4-page gatefold spread of the Justice League by Jim Lee. This likely to be amazing piece of art will be part of a new story written by Geoff Johns.
