You saw all our live tweets announcing amazing creative teams, incredible new titles, and generally building up the hype of DC’s Universe Rebirth, but now you can watch the entire panel (potentially again) by clicking the video steam below!
There’s certainly a ton of great news to take in after watching that hour and a half of hype. But I’m sure you’re all still left with many questions. Check back Monday for our full write up, with plenty of cover images and opinions, and chime in with your thoughts on DC’s new plans for 2016 and onward!
DC Entertainment is coming to WonderCon this year in a big way, as this is right before the comic publisher rolls forward with their new relaunch of #1 comics they’re titling DC: REBIRTH! Knowing this, it’s obvious to understand why the publisher, whose offices are right in WonderCon’s backyard, is bringing a full crew of creators, exclusives, and news via some big panels! One of the panels is even so big it starts before the convention opens on Saturday and will be streamed live for anyone to watch around the world! But just who are the creators coming to WonderCon More >
Yesterday night was the DC Retailer Roadshow in Burbank, CA, the future home of DC Comics starting this May. The event is a semi-regular gathering of comic Retailers with the head of Sales, Publishing, and a few other admin/creative types from DC Comics to discuss upcoming events, sales tactics, incentives, and generally share ideas with one another. Great things like the popular Harley Quinn on-going that is currently being published by DC have spun out of these meetings, as well as some great and extraordinarily rare exclusive variant covers offered only to participants. Notable hosts on hand this time were More >
Right on the heels of this weekend’s spectacular Walking Dead Season Finale, Image Comics and DC Comics announced a major company crossover, Batman and The Walking Dead! In the vein of Marvel’s Invincible/Spider-man crossover in Marvel Team-Up #14, Robert Kirkman will be writing a major crossover mini-series wherein Batman must go up against zombies in Gotham City. We first saw a hint of this with the above teaser at this weekend’s Emerald City Comic Con, but editors and creators on panel kept their lips tight (albeit smiling) about what it meant. Now we know and I don’t think fans could More >
Last week’s Batman #28 finally introduced *CENSORED* back into DC’s New 52 universe, and the appearance was long over due. After years of fans clamoring for the former *CENSORED* to return, Dan Didio, Scott Snyder, and Dustin Nguyen have answered the cries and given us just what we want. The only problem? We have to wait until April’s Batman Eternal #1 to see her again, as this last issue of Batman was just a short break in the Batman Year Zero storyline. But while we’re waiting for more *CENSORED*, let’s take a look at the one page we’ve got.
On today’s episode of The View, actress Whoopi Goldberg shares video of her trip to New York Comic Con last week. There, Whoopi prepared to pitch her new comic idea as any TV show host at a major comic convention might…through brief and comedic interviews with various geek celebrities. Whoopi started out with DC Publisher Dan Didio, who had originally joked about the interaction on his Facebook, and continues to tweet about it today. From there she met with various Geek celebrities, cosplayers, and exhibitors like Frank Beddor, John Barrowman, Kevin Smith, Seth Green, and more. The celebrities, all playing More >
This month has seen DC Comics talked about quite a bit, particularly in the realm of controversy. While I personally believe many of DC’s choices of late need to be discussed and evaluated, two these stories have truly grown to epic proportions that likely spawn from misunderstanding. Recently, J.H. Williams III and Haden Blackman have walked off their comic series, Batwoman, because of DC editorial decisions that have left them both rather frustrated. Specifically, the two men left because DC would not allow the series’ main character, Kate Kane, to get married to her fiancee, Maggie Sawyer. This was certainly More >
DC has some final issues set to come out this August along with some special one-shots. Continuing DC’s big summer event of the Trinity War, there is a Trinity War Directors Cut special which features Geoff John’s script and Ivan Reis’ penciles. You can also look forward to the huge Batman Inc Special with its solicit directly below. Sadly a few titles are on their final issue, so fans will have to say goodbye to great series like Legion of Super-heroes, Demon Knights, Dial H, and Threshold. Hopefully this means there will be some awesome new titles in September, but More >
In Seattle Washington today, at DC’s panel for Emerald City Comic Con, fans were finally given new news about the mysterious lady who first appeared in Flashpoint #5 and then subtly cameo’d in every #1 issue of DC’s New 52 titles. Yes, Pandora will be coming back to the DC universe, according to panelists, and she’s not alone. We first got Pandora’s name and a little bit more info about her in the New 52 Free Comic Book Day comic last year, where she appeared alongside the Question and the Phantom Stranger. This ‘Trinity of Sin’ was cursed by some More >
April brings some big surprises to the DC universe, but you wont see much of them on the covers or solicits to this month’s books. DC is bringing gatefold covers (fold out covers that were quite popular about 20 years ago in the comic industry) to each of the New 52 titles, with the hidden half of the cover that will be folded up on the shelf all set to shock and awe the readers. Of course, because of these shocking covers, we only get half of them for now. You’ll also note the solicit descriptions run a little…short. These More >
