Mass Effect 3 Midnight Release

A crowd of about 300 enthusiastic gamers braved the chilly Los Angeles weather outside of West Hollywood’s Gamestop awaiting the midnight release of BioWare’s Mass Effect 3 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. For a “fan event” there was quite a bit of excitement and activity inside the store. Director, Casey Hudson, and lead writer, Mac Walters, were both on hand to give interviews to the press right up until the 12am release. A Game of Trailers for Season 2 of HBO’s Top Series

As the second season of Game of Thrones becomes less than a month away we get yet another trailer. This one gives us a few more glimpses into what each of the main characters will be doing throughout season 2. Xbox 720 Rumors!

There have been many rumors circulating around the web lately about Xbox 720, code name”Durango”. The new Microsoft console will be unveiled at E3 in 2013. It will come out with the new Kinect 2! Mass Effect 3 Balloon Space Chase

Throughout this week the incredibly fun people at BioWare have been releasing copies of Mass Effect 3 out into space and back for those who can track them. They are doing this by attaching the games to weather balloons and letting them drift. Not all of these ventures have been sucessful, with reports of one grouping of the games being stuck 150′ up an old Redwood in Northern California’s Big Basin. Guild Wars 2 Beta Opens, Among Others

The much anticipated Guild Wars 2 is accepting beta applications for the next 48 hours. Head on over for a chance at playing what is promising to be a ground-breaking MMO.
On the topic of betas, Counterstrike: Global Offensive will soon be kicking off a beta as well. Valve currently has a survey up, with a possible beta invite for those of you that fill it out.
As a final treat, Tribes: Ascend has entered open beta. Since the game is Free-to-Play, consider this a “release” for all intents and purposes. Sign up for some shooty goodness.
XBL ‘Indie Games’ Rises from the Deep

A Microsoft redesign of the Xbox Live dashboard in November last year buried the Indie Games section deeper beneath the surface, stoking criticism of the platform for holding back Indie game development. Last Friday, however, Microsoft reversed course. It is as yet unclear whether this change was in response to customer feedback, or pressure from Indie developers, though it’s timing with the console-denouncing Gamesradar.com article is suspiciously perfect.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2/ Street Fighter X Tekken

AOU 2012 Amusement Expo is this weekend in Chiba, Japan. There, Bandai Games unveiled a 150-second trailer for Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The arcade game is scheduled for release in Spring 2012 in Japan. The game includes 44 playable characters including Panda, True Ogre (now simply called Ogre), Jinpachi Mishima, and Devil Jin. Devil Kazuya makes an appearance, but as a part of Kazuya instead of having a character slot.
Earlier this week, the CAPCOM unity website began streaming a story trailer and the sixth cinematic trailer for the Street Fighter X Tekken fighting game.
