Harry Potter and the Sale of Digital Books – Harry Potter, the long beloved series of all ages novels about a young wizard and the drama of wizarding school/puberty, is now available digitally. Yes, thanks to Rowlings new site, Pottermore, which has been a little less popular in the past few months than it was within the first few weeks of beta testing, contains all 7 books in both ebook and digital audio book formats. George R.R. Mar-vel - In other news relating to the world of prose literature, Author George R.R. Martin (who a few of you might have heard of as the writer of a little thing called Game of Thrones) was interviewed by…Marvel Comics?!?! But Martin hasn’t even written comics, and what comics are based on his work generally come out from Avatar Press and Dynamite Entertainment! Well, it turns out that George R.R. Martin’s writing has appeared in several Marvel comics back in the 60′s, as fan letters! Martin, who is a big Marvel fan, talks about his love of the house of ideas over at Marvel.com today.
Terry Moore’s Echo Goes Digital – ComiXology, the leading digital comic distributor, has officially picked up Terry Moore’s award winning series as of Wednesday. Terry happily points out that “as an independent creator, it’s important to have my work on every outlet available”, and is therefore quite pleased about the deal struck. Echo follows the tale of photographer Julie Martin after she inadvertently becomes linked to a mysterious metal alloy capable of granting her strange powers. On the run from a government out to harness the alloy for reasons unknown, Julie must discover the secrets of the metal for herself while protecting those closest to her before it’s too late. You can now read Echo through ComiXology, as well as Moore’s current series, Rachel Rising (which is available digitally the same day as its print release), on iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, and online.
Viz Gets New President with a Digital P.O.V. - Viz Media, who likely publish atleast a few of the manga on your shelves, has announced that on Thursday Ken Sasaki will take over Hidemi Fukuhara’s position as President & CEO of the company. Sasaki has worked for Viz as the Senior VP and General Manager some time now (beginning his career at Viz in 2004). The new president hopes to emphasize the company’s digital end, potentially moving away from print. This comes after the past few conventions Viz has attended have pretty much solely promoted the new Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha (a digital manga magazine and mobile app).
