San Diego’s Comic Con International is a world renowned event that draws roughly a quarter of a million people out to San Diego annually for a 5 day long festival of comics and pop cultures. The Best Potted Groot Yet! — A New Guardians of the Galaxy Toy Worth Buying

Ever since that amazing credits scene from this year’s highly popular Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, fans have been clamoring for a dancing potted Groot toy. Everyone from Funk Pop to KIDdesigns has made a version of the beloved sapling Groot in a pot, though the custom figures by fans have often come out the best. Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival Panels: Heavensward

With the Fan Festival for FFXIV over now for a couple days, I’ve finally been able to go back through all the exciting things that were released during these two hectic days. I did not get a chance to sit and listen to every panel from start to finish, but I did manage hear about all the exciting points in each of them. LBCC ’14: The Dwayne McDuffie Award

Dwayne McDuffie was an iconic comic creator and television writer taken from us far too early. By the age of 49, Dwayne had helped create several amazing comic characters, been responsible for a number of brilliant animated comic adaptations in television and film, and written a number of notable comic storylines in books like Justice League of America, Firestorm, and Fantastic Four. McDuffie is responsible for great animated series you’re probably familiar with like Static Shock, Teen Titans, and Justice League Unlimited. Wondercon ’14: Venture Bros Art Book Coming To Dark Horse

Dark Horse has always produced some wonderful licensed series tie-ins from comics to art books to even models. Recently, one of my favorite of these releases was the Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra art books. Done in a beautiful oversized hardcover, these books provided a great behind the scenes look at the series with never before seen art and commentary from the crew that created such a wonderful cartoon.
