The Week DC Held Back
Nov 28th
[private]Apparently DC really likes its 4 times a month shipping schedule, because this week they are holding back! If you are a fan of DC’s DCnU/New52 then this is not your week for comics. It would seem DC decided to skip out on the 5th Wednesday of November by releasing just a few peripheral DCU titles, some reprints, and vertigo bits with absolutely nothing of their brand new New 52 to be seen. Of the new releases DC is offering this week (not including reprints or repackaging of older titles) there is only the meager collection listed below: BATMAN ODYSSEY More >

Who’s the fairest of them all in 2012?

[private]The Grimm Fairytale of Snow White is getting two fantastic film adaptions next year in the way of Mirror Mirror and Snow White & The Huntsman. Mirror Mirror, which is distributed by Relativity Media and stars Julia Roberts, Lilly Collins, and the always beloved Sean Bean, has just released its first trailer earlier today. So with both movies now show video of what we can expect next spring and summer, lets compare.
Mirror Mirror’s trailer comes off as a funny film seemingly more focused on the “Evil Queen” portrayed by Julia Roberts. The dialogue of the trailer gives off a bunch of More >
Reading Digital Before Physical: Avenging Spider-man #1
Nov 11th

Having always been a staunch supporter of owning a physical copy of any comic I read, I’ve rarely partaken in digital downloads. So when Marvel started offering “free”* Digital Downloads with their recently released Avenging Spider-man #1, I found it the perfect time to experiment with what it would be like to read a comic digitally before physically in the old floppy book format.
Now before I begin, let me state this isn’t truly a review of Avenging Spider-man. Though the comic is quite fun, with great dialogue from Zeb Wells, the purpose is to compare how reading a comic digitally More >

SG2M Travels: Pacific Media Expo 2011
Nov 7th
[private]
This month just feels like one convention after another for the staff here at Speak Geeky To Me, and that is probably because it has been. So far in the past few weeks we’ve been to Long Beach Comic Con, LA’s Comikaze, and now we have yet another one coming up this week! However, this one is certainly a change of pace from the comic convention style of creators sitting behind booths and selling/signing stuff. Pacific Media Expo ’11 is this weekend in Inglewood (think more like LAX airport than the location Snoop Dogg might rap about) [or Westchester, More >
Nightwing: Arkham City Review
Nov 5th
Today I finally found the time to sit down in front of my Playstation 3 and sign into the infamous PlayStation store. After all the drama this part of Sony has faced recently, I can’t deny a bit of hesitance in this being the first content I’ve charged to my credit card since the PSN went down. Never the less it was a rather painless experience and $6.99 is the most minuscule amount to pay for playing as Nightwing in the new Batman: Arkham City game.
SG2M Travels: Comikaze Expo 2011

We at Speak Geeky To Me felt that Long Beach Comic & Horror Convention was so fun it could only be complimented by another comic convention exactly one week later. Too accomplish this, we must thank the fine people of Comikaze Expo for holding yet another Southern California comics convention so close afterwards (in date and proximity). Yes, that means you will find the amazing staff of Speak Geeky To Me in Los Angeles this weekend, attending the first ever Comikaze Expo! Swing by, pick up some swag, get stuff signed, and most importantly: if you see us, say More >
