DC Retailer Roadshow, A Perspective From Convergence Fest

Yesterday night was the DC Retailer Roadshow in Burbank, CA, the future home of DC Comics starting this May. The event is a semi-regular gathering of comic Retailers with the head of Sales, Publishing, and a few other admin/creative types from DC Comics to discuss upcoming events, sales tactics, incentives, and generally share ideas with one another. DC Comics In June, New Titles and Creative Teams

Just a few short hours before today’s big DC Retailer Roadshow (the first of several) in Burbank, CA, DC has dropped the bombshell of June’s post-Convergence plans. What are they? Well, they involve 24 brand new comic series, a dropping of the New 52 branding, and some major creative team shake ups. The first issue of Django/Zorro has not only sold out, but it was also an exemplary comic form of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Of course, this is as it should be considering it was co-plotted by the director as if it was an official sequel to his popular American Western, Django Unchained. It seems Warner Bros has finally learned its lesson about keeping it all in house, with DC properties seeing new TV shows at NBC in the way of Constantine and Fox for Gotham. But now CBS is getting in on the superhero fun with another DC property going to TV in the form of Supergirl. Batgirl #35 - A Huge 10-Page Unedited Preview!

Earlier this week, comic retailers were sent an 11-page preview of the upcoming Batgirl #35. Why were they sent so many pages so far in advance? Because DC Comics is shaking up the Batgirl series pretty heavily with this new issues and they want retailers to see what is coming so they order big. The new storyline also features a new creative team, as Gail Simone makes way for Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and artist Babs Tarr (wonderfully named artist for Batgirl, right?). Another night, another leaked DC television series. Tonight we get one from NBC, the upcoming Constantine TV series set for actual release on October 24th. Once again, I hope this leak leads to the network premiering it online to detour pirating, but I suppose piracy is cool right now based on recent television and film trends. The Flash Leaks - A Few Spoiler Avoiding Thoughts

The pilot episode of The Flash has leaked online, well before its intended release date of October 7th this year. Because of this, well I’m not the type to jump on a full review over such, I’d like to point out some of the hopeful bits that might entice you a bit towards checking out this new series when it premieres on CW this Fall. Director Zack Snyder has apparently been in a very favorable mood this past week, with teasing tweets for his upcoming film, Superman/Batman.
