As we’ve talked about for sometime now, Warner Bros. is bringing the Green Arrow to television via their popular television channel, CW. However, this is not the blonde bearded emerald archer you might recall from the past 50 years of comics. No, he’s not even the swell, clean shaven, Robin Hood archetype you heard about (or perhaps even read) back in More Fun Comics #73 (way back in 1941). This Green Arrow is more of a modern take, with an appearance much closer to the New 52 Green Arrow. He is youthful, a little more Nolan-esque, and kind of reminding me of the new Avengers interpretation of Hawkeye. One thing is fore sure, from the preview we have below, he is a badass with a bow!

The new series will actually be entitled Arrow, with the word green nowhere in sight of the title, but at least mentioned in the preview. It will star Stephen Amell as our dashing and muscular Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) and the rest of the major cast that is known is as follows:
Willa Holland as Thea Queen (likely to be Oliver’s sister, the cute girl the audience can adore)
Jamey Sheridan as Robert Queen (Oliver’s Father)
Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen (Oliver’s Mother…who was named Laura in the comics)Katie Cassidy as Dinah “Laurel” Lance (Black Canary…yet she might not be so superhero-ish in the TV show. Atleast not instantly)
Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood as Sarah Lance
David Ramsey as John Diggle (You can only guess where that name came from, fans of the Green Arrow writers)
Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn (Undoubtedly the villain, and one time inspiration for Oliver, Merlyn was never given a name in the comics…so Tommy seems an odd choice)
Colin Salmon as Walter Steele
Darren Shahlavi as Constantine Drakon (The Greek assassin from Winick’s run of Green Arrow; the man who could catch arrows)
Right now the series has been picked up for 13 episodes to air on the fall schedule on CW. It is currently slated to begin airing Wednesday’s at 8 PM, this October. But you all came here for you first look at the show, so watch below. We have the official CW video, as well as a slightly lower quality youtube version for those outside of the US that cannot view CW’s region locked video.
