This month: The Avengers
The Avengers is set to release on DVD and BluRay today, so I decided to begin with a bang and post some outfits based on your favorite Avengers from the film. Let’s start with the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist:
Iron Man
Iron Man Rundown
First Appearance: Tales of Suspense #3
Real Name: Tony Stark
Abilities: Genius Engineer who invents an array of specialized weapons and armor. He created the Iron man suit, a suit which allows him to fly and has an array of weapons – repulsor beams, pulse bolts, sonic generators, mini missiles, laser torch, and so on.
Fun Facts: President of Stark Industries (a company which develops and manufactures advanced weapon and defense technologies ), Billionaire playboy (hello ladies!), Has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Physics which he used to create and construct many Iron Man suits.
I must admit, this was a difficult outfit to conjure up. Gold pants just looked off to me but that sequined gold top was a perfect fit and that amazing boyfriend style blazer was a great find (Those are really starting to grow on me). I think I managed to pull of a nice business causal look that Tony Stark would approve of. I can’t say I am a fan of gold, but after working on this outfit it’s beginning to grow on me. Those gold heels are just amazing (I LOVE a good heel), that clutch reminds me of the clean shapes seen on the Iron Man suit, and the rest of the accessories just really make this outfit pop, those cats eye sunglasses are great and really, why wouldn’t Tony Stark have a gold iPhone case??
Captain America
Captain America Rundown
First Appearance: Captain America Comics # 1
Real Name: Steve Rogers
Abilities: Agility, Speed, Strength, Endurance, and Reaction time. Not superhuman per se, but Steve is the pinnacle of human physical perfection thanks to the Super Soldier Serum. His body works on a level higher than any Olympic athletic. He is a master of American style boxing and judo.
Fun Facts: Born during the Depression (and he’s not immortal, how’s that for old?), Known as the “Living Symbol of Freedom”, Had the opportunity to run for president but he declined.
What’s more American (and comfortable) than a pair of broken in jeans, a baggy tee, and some sweet combat boots? I say nothing. I’d wear this outfit every day, in every variety if I could. I’m serious. I am in love with this baggy tee style out there (baggy tee, baggy tank, baggy whatever). It just oozes comfort to me and to me, fashion should be comfortable. I am also a scarf fanatic, once fall hits I break out my collection of scarfs and accessorize with them like other people wear necklaces. Aren’t those combat boots are just fantastic? Doc Martens have never gone wrong with me, I’ve had the same pair for nearly 10 years and they still look great.
Hulk
Hulk Rundown
First Appearance: Incredible Hulk #1
Real Name: Robert Bruce Banner (Yes, Robert. Don’t believe me? Pick up Fantastic Four #25–26)
Abilities: As the Hulk: Superhuman strength, Speed, Stamina, Endurance & Durability, Immunity to diseases & viruses, Healing factors, Resistant to mind control.
Fun Facts: Scientific genius, His life is full of struggle much like Jekyll and Hyde, The Hulk was originally grey not green, but due to inconsistencies in printing they changed his color to the iconic green.
For the Hulk I wanted a more simplistic outfit. I didn’t want to go all cliché and head straight for a pair of purple shorts. Hulk needed some class, so why not punch it up a bit with a gorgeous purple dress with some amazing green accessories. The necklace caught my eye, I really love the different shaped jewels, they reminded me of the different personalities within this character (ie: Bruce vs The Hulk). Once I found that necklace the rest of the accessories just fell into place after that. Like I said- simple, classy, gorgeous. Actually minus the handbag, this outfit is pretty affordable.
Thor
First Appearance: Journey into Mystery #83
Real Name: Thor Odinson
Secret Identity: Dr. Donald Blake
Abilities: Superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, flight, energy absorption and projection, weather and electric manipulation, dimensional transportation, longevity and healing factors. Trained in Hand to hand combat, expert swordsman, and trained in the arts of war.
Fun Facts: He is a god (pretty sweet huh?), He wields the enchanted Hammer known as Mjolnir (which grants him many of his abilities), From a magical realm called Asgard, On Earth he is a physician.
I am in love with this outfit. I mean seriously what’s not to love? Those shoes are adorable, the are reminiscent of the gladiator sandal but it’s kicked up a notch with that amazing wedge. The handbag color is so striking and bold, it’s also huge (say’s the self-proclaimed bag lady…I carry EVERYTHING with me – wallet, keys, kindle, planner, chapstick, compact, iPod, headphones…I could go on…), and who doesn’t love a comfy tee paired with a sweater and some jeans! (I am a total sweater-holic). I adore this so much I am definitely going to be looking for the right pieces to duplicate it myself!
Don’t worry. I am not always dressed to the nines. I still love my comfy jeans and graphic tees and you’ll be seeing a little of those around here too.
Enjoy!
