This week saw the release of the second issue of Aspen MLT’s Idolized in comic shop, but next week sees the second issue of yet another new Aspen mini-series, Michael Turner’s Homecoming! After an exciting first issue, unlike anything else currently being released from Aspen, Homecoming continues the tale of Hunter Wilson, and his sexy alien friend, Celeste. Since the mysterious Celeste has reappeared, after a 10 year absence, in Hunter’s swimming pool things have become increasingly more strange. Life has been a non-stop adventure for the homecoming committee of Hillcrest High with the invasion of alien fiends, confusing relationships, and the abduction onto a UFO right out of their school gymnasium. As we enter issue #2 of Homecoming there are many questions, such as what is Celeste? why are these aliens on Earth and attacking the once missing high school aged girl? And will Hunter’s friends, who were badly injured in issue one’s alien attack, survive? Can these kids fight off aliens, plan the Homecoming dance, and avoid suspicion from their parents? We’ll all hopefully find out as issue #2 of Homecoming hit’s stores October 3rd.

Written by David Wohl (The Darkness, Executive Assistant Iris), based on a story by Michael Turner, Scott Lobdell, and David himself, the tale of Homecoming has certainly been a surprising one so far. Unlike almost anything Wohl has written before, Homecoming is a little like Ben 10 meets Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Keeping with that cartoon like feel, even in sexy scenes that would normally make for stunning pin-ups at Aspen, is Emilio Laiso (Gore, Hack/Slash) on pencils, with Brett Smith (G.I. Joe, Superman) providing colors. Issue #1 has a beautiful cover by Michael Turner that had inspired the comic’s creation, but issue #2 will sadly not have any newly discovered Turner pieces. Instead, Homecoming #2 features 3 brand new covers, two of which are by by Emilio Laiso and Beth Sotelo, and one by Michael Ryan and Peter Steigerwald. Check out all 3 covers and a 6-page preview below.
