Marvel is in no way shy to throwing big launch parties at comic shops who are willing and capable of hosting them, having done launch events for titles like Dark Tower and Uncanny X-men. So with Marvel NOW on its way, it should be no surprise that events are being planned for the upcoming flagship title, Uncanny Avengers. Written by Rick Remender, with art by John Cassaday, Uncanny Avengers #1 is set for release on October 10th (or so says the newest press release, while previous announcements listed October 3rd) and will likely be a huge seller with such a big name team and creative team behind the heroes. To emphasize this, Marvel wants select comic shops to host day long Uncanny Avengers parties that Wednesday. Normally most of Marvel’s launch parties take place the Tuesday before, with midnight sales. Perhaps this time around Marvel is just realizing more people can attend and host daytime events. Their selling point to get you into your shop and pick up Uncanny Avengers #1 on the first day? Aside from being one of the first fans to own a copy, the shops will be giving away exclusive comic swag provided by Marvel! Well…it’s sort of provided by Marvel. Marvel claims all the awesome and exclusive freebies for fans will come in free Uncanny Avengers Party Kits from Marvel, that retailers need only opt in through Diamond to receive. Of course, we still recommend thanking any comic retailer who gives you this swag, because it is rarely ever cheap to get these “free” kits from Marvel or through Diamond.

And that’s not all! Retailers who opt in for Uncanny Avengers Launch Parties will also be eligible to order a Uncanny Avengers #1 Deadpool Call Me Maybe Variant! Yes, a Carly Rae Jepsen inspired Marvel variant cover from the talented pen of Mark Brooks! Deadpool is looking to fill a spot on Rick Remender and John Cassaday’s superstar Avengers lineup….but they don’t seem to be answering his calls like Rick once did on Uncanny X-Force. So this one of a kind variant will undoubtedly have fans flocking to their stores and paying a pretty penny much like Deadpool’s Siege #3 variant by Campbell and Strain!
