Tomorrow Is C-Day 2 - The Crossed Will Return
Last year was the first annual C-Day, the day that celebrates Garth Ennis’ sick and twisted zombie-like comic, Crossed, from Avatar Press. To celebrate, comic shops around the world held Crossed parties filled with cosplay, comics, and even cupcakes! Avatar provided survival kits to select shops that included pins, masks (to hide your face from the Crossed), and more. It was great fun for many involved, as we showed in last years coverage of the event. The big hit of last year’s C-Day was the premier of two new Crossed series, the on-going Crossed: Badlands and the free web-series known as Crossed: Wish You Were Here. This year there wont be a new Crossed series, but Crossed: Badlands continues with issue #25 and the return of creator Garth Ennis to writing duties.
Joined by artist Raulo Caceres, Ennis’ new arc, “The Fatal Englishman,” introduces a band of former soldiers that are doing what no one else has been able to – strike back at the Crossed. Ennis is well known for creating authentic characters, strong original dialogue, and combining horror with action. There will be an incredible number of covers, include a die-cut variant cover, to celebrate this issue that will also finally lead to fans discovering the origin of the Crossed. Swing by your local comic shop tomorrow, Wednesday March 13th, for your copy. If you’re in or around San Marcos, CA, Speak Geeky To Me will be co-hosting a C-Day party at Sky High Comics, so make sure to swing by and say hello.
