The Brilliant Italian Artist, Franco Urru, Has Passed Away

Franco Urru, sometimes credited as Frank Urru, was a very talented Italian comic artist most fans will know as the artist for IDW’s Spike and Angel comic series. A rather brilliant artist, who drew one of my favorite Buffy-verse characters, Franco had a stunning run on the continuation of Angel under the writing of Brian Lynch. But Urru’s work first began with comic publishers Ediperiodici (known for their vampire and erotic sequential art stories) and Heroic Publishing in the 1990′s. Fanboy Rant: Marvel Comics - Are We Getting Our Money’s Worth?

I’m going to start this little rant by going back 2 years ago when DC announced they were “Drawing the Line at $2.99”. For those not familiar, this campaign was geared toward lowering the price of some comics, and maintaining the price on the rest of their comics. As it went, all regular comics (32 pages, including ads, and under) would have a $2.99 price tag, all oversized (above 32 pages) would start at $3.99, depending on the page count. Marvel’s X-Termination

Today Marvel announced their next big X-event. For those of you who read last week’s Uncanny X-Force #34, the teaser image below will likely make some sense. X-Termination, set to come out in March of next year, seems to bring back the Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler, who ominously abandoned his X-Force teammates at the end of Uncanny X-Force: The Final Execution Saga. Viz To Finally Sync Release Of Shonen Jump Alpha With Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump
