Guardians Of The Galaxy #1 AR Reveals Marvel’s Future
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is in stores today and has some big news for those looking ahead in the Marvel Universe. If you have a mobile device capable of using the Marvel AR app, I highly recommend turning it on and picking up your copy of Guardians for a few insightful and humorous video clips. The big one comes right off the bat from Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, giving us a look at Marvel’s next big event book, Infinity. Written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Jim Cheung, this is definitely the event creators have been hinting at Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy leading up to. But with that title and creative team, this could also spin out of Hickman’s two Avengers titles, considering their current plots and the recent events of New Avengers #3. Now the other interesting thing to come out of Marvel’s AR for Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is music related. Aiming your phone at the big reveal of the Guardians team early on in the book we get a great clip where editor Stephen Wacker offers some background music up for the book. Could this be an early sign of Marvel’s upcoming Project Gamma we talked about earlier this month?
Probably not, considering how horrible (or hilarious) it is, including lyrics and vocals from a Marvel editor. However, it was worth sharing. I don’t know if this makes me pine for or be thankful that Marvel no longer is releasing records staring the company’s editors directly from their bullpen, but it certainly makes me glad the Marvel AR app gives me the option to listen to such things…or not listen to them. Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is in stores today and you can download the Marvel AR app from the iTunes or Google Play stores on most smart mobile devices. Enjoy!
