This Easter weekend, WonderCon returns to Anaheim, California for its second and final year at the Anaheim Convention Center before returning back to San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Tickets are already quickly selling out for the comic convention right across from Disneyland, but if you act now you can join us for a sunny Southern California con. Expect some big news to come from DC, with several major creators and the company’s publishers on site. Joss Whedon will be bringing his cast of the new Much Adieu About Nothing film, and Netflix will be showing of its upcoming Hemlock Grove. So come join us, enjoy the comics, cosplay, creators, and more this weekend!

History:

WonderCon began in 1987, the brain child of comic retailer John Barrett, and was run by Joe Field and Mike Friedrich for over 15 years. In 2001, WonderCon was taken into the Comic Con International family as the management group that runs San Diego Comic Con took control. While the convention had humble beginnings in the Oakland Convention Center, it now calls the Moscone Center in San Francisco California its home. The attendance of this convention may not be on the level of its San Diego sister convention, but with 40k attendees in San Francisco, the numbers look like they will continue to grow. Furthermore, this show brings out the comic companies and pays homage to the genre that spawned it like the San Diego Comic Con of the nineties. Added with its mid-spring timing, the show brings big Hollywood attention and has often hosted early and preview screenings of many major comic book films, such as Spider-man 2, Batman Begins, and Watchmen. This year will be the show’s second and final year taking place in Anaheim, California, while the Moscone Center undergoes construction. 3-Day and Saturday tickets have already sold out, so despite taking place on Easter Weekend, expect the convention to be packed!
