Robocop_posterDetroit’s favorite guardian has come along way since his debut 26 years ago, with multiple films, comics, video games, and more. But as time went on many people have forgot about the cyborg police officer, much like they had many other cult 80′s films like Tron or Predator. But as VH1 loved to point out, there is always a dime to be made on bringing back the 80′s, so while it might have surprised a few I’m sure it wasn’t too huge a shock when the 2014 remake of Robocop was announced. I, myself, was rather hesitant to believe this could be any film worthy of note, but when the all-star cast started getting announced with actors the like of Samuel Jackson, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and the beautiful Abbie Cornish as acting along side Joel Kinnaman as Robocop? My interest admittedly piqued. Then we saw that very dark and shiny costume, and while it wasn’t truly Robocop to me, it reminded me of Tron Legacy and how much I enjoyed that addition to the 80′s classic. Now, with this week’s brand new trailer, I feel this movie has quite a bit of potential. The nods to the previous films and cannon of Robocop all look great and the action looks rather sleek. Maybe Jose Padilha’s Robocop will be more of a Dredd and less of a Green Hornet. Check out the full trailer below:
