NYCC Whoopi DidioOn today’s episode of The View, actress Whoopi Goldberg shares video of her trip to New York Comic Con last week. There, Whoopi prepared to pitch her new comic idea as any TV show host at a major comic convention might…through brief and comedic interviews with various geek celebrities. Whoopi started out with DC Publisher Dan Didio, who had originally joked about the interaction on his Facebook, and continues to tweet about it today. From there she met with various Geek celebrities, cosplayers, and exhibitors like Frank Beddor, John Barrowman, Kevin Smith, Seth Green, and more. The celebrities, all playing into the gag of the skit, gave her various weapons and superhero items to help with her pitch. That is, until she bumped into Joe Quesada of Marvel, who told her she’d been had. Whoopi then went on to pitch the comic to Marvel’s once Editor-in-Chief (now CCO), making us wonder if Marvel has stolen the idea away from DC Entertainment! In all truth, the skit leaves us curious if Whoopi ever truly had a comic to pitch, and, if so, where will it end up and just what is it? Never-the-less, it is very nice to see Geek culture and New York Comic Con presented in such a nice and accepting light on a show like The View. Whoopi even further talked up the event after with her View co-stars, sharing how the show was family oriented and expressed a real enthusiasm about going back. Whoopi has always been a bit of a Geek herself, and therefore this was a rather fun bit that might bring out the Geek in a few of The Views regular watchers.
