Sheldon Moldoff was one of those Golden Age comic personalities who seemed to work on everything fun in the comics industry. Having started out in the best place possible, Moldoff’s first comics work was on Detective Comics Inc’s Action Comics #1. In his long career in comics he co-created Batman characters Poison Ivy, Bat-girl (Kane, not Gordon), Bat-Mite, Mr. Freeze, Clayface II, and Ace the Bat-Hound. He was one of Bob Kane’s infamous “Ghost Artists” that helped him draw some of the many Batman stories of the 1950′s and onward. He drew the fantastic covers on the first appearance issues of the Golden Age Flash (Flash Comics #1) and Green Lantern (All-American Comics #16). Moldoff was a pioneer of horror comics, an early Hawkman penciler, the creator of Jon Valor (Black Pirate from Action Comics and Starman), and cartoon animator. He lived a long and successful life, with a legacy that Gold and Silver age comic fans cherish.
