It’s been a quarter of a year since San Diego’s last comic convention, July’s Comic Con International, so it is about time for a new San Diego comic event. Thankfully, some of the very founders of San Diego’s Comic Con have put together a new comic show in sunny Southern California, called Comic Fest. This will be the show’s second year, with a few impressive guests for a small convention focused more on the art than the media that profits off it. We’ll be there to cover the event, and if you’re in the area we recommend you swing by and join us.

History: An old-school style comic convention brought to you by the creators of San Diego’s infamous Comic Con International back in the 1970’s, Comic Fest is a return to a simpler style of comic conventions. No big flashy movie studios or stars, no video game companies or random unrelated corporations trying to hawk their product, just comic fans, retailers, and creators gathering to celebrate comics. 2012 was the inaugural year of the convention and to keep things small the show had capped attendance at 1,000 fans.
