SG2M Travels: San Diego Comic Con International 2013
Summer is in full swing and it’s certainly getting hot out here in Southern California as we prepare for yet another San Diego Comic Con International. This one looks to be as big as ever, as the show continues to increase in it’s attention from all around the world, even if the San Diego Fire Marshals won’t allow it to increase in size. While we know some folks, like Peter Jackson, won’t be making it out to the show, you can expect others to be in full force. Comic creators from around the world will be mingling on the convention floor and at panels with fans, while big name celebrities come to sign autographs and talk about their new projects. There should be some big reveals in movies, video games, and, of course, comics all weekend. Check back here for news, especially after the show, and make sure you follow us on twitter for live breaking news! Of course we’ll be on site for all of it with a full staff present, gathering news, interviews, and photos. Hope to see you there!

History:
San Diego Comic Con International is a comic convention with a rich history that dates back over 40 years. Having been first held at the US Grant Hotel way back in 1970, it was then known as Golden State Comic Con and held a small attendance of 300 fans. Back then the convention just had a handful of guests, such as Ray Bradbury and Jack Kirby. However over the years the convention grew and moved from hotel to hotel until it found its home at the new San Diego Convention Center in 1991. Now Comic Con hosts over 126,000 attendees and unofficially spreads itself throughout downtown San Diego, with guests lodged throughout southern San Diego County. Yet despite the size of the convention and its continued growth and attendance cap, San Diego holds tightly on to the event as they expand their convention center and adjust the city to keep the beloved Geek festival each summer.
