Superboy26It looks like the upcoming December DC Comics solicits might see quite a few shake ups on the creative end, especially after recent events on Batwoman. But it is nice to see straight forward and happy additions to creative teams that might truly aid in sales and story improvements. While, partially in thanks to the recent Man of Steel movie and announcement of its upcoming sequel, Superman has been selling well lately, Supergirl and Superboy have not been in peak form. Sure, neither book has been bad by any means, but it might not have been many people’s cup of tea. So what is a good solution to get these two Super Superman relatives a few new (and perhaps old) readers? New writers with new ideas, but very talented backgrounds.

This December, Superboy #26 will be written by Frank Hannah (Action Comics, Supergirl) and the legendary Marv Wolfman (Teen Titans, Superman) who helped make the Teen Titans one of the better books of the 80′s. This issue will be just the start of the new creative team of writer Marv Wolfman and artist Andres Guinaldo (Gotham City Sirens, The Hypernaturals), with Hannah only co-writing issue #26. Supergirl26Superboy #26 finds Superboy lost in time with the Teen Titans as he comes to some startling revelations about both his origins and his future. A potentially new or re-worked origin along with a hint of things to come? It might be just the time to at least get a taste for Superboy once again if you’ve strayed away or ever held interest.

Meanwhile, also in December, Supergirl starts a new storyline written by a man who has handled this strong female Kryptonian before, Tony Bedard. Writer Tony Bedard (R.E.B.E.L.S., Rogue) and artists Yildiray Cinar (Teen Titans, Legion of Super-Heroes) and Ray McCarthy (Superman, Superboy) take over from Michael Alan Nelson and Mahmud Asrar to throw Kara’s life into an all new hell (as opposed to H’El. Following the conclusion of the Superman crossover, Krypton Returns, this first issue centers around Supergirl arriving back on Earth with a new mission and a clearer understanding of her place in the universe. But a striking new foe prepares to welcome Supergirl home in the form of the newly redesigned Lobo!
