OutcastIt has been 10 years since Robert Kirkman began his on-going horror comic series, The Walking Dead, and that series has gone on to reach critical acclaim over multiple mediums, with two TV series, several video games, and, of course, an on-going independent comic series that has spanned over 115-issues so far. But early yesterday morning we talked about Kirkman beginning work on a new horror series with the talented comic artist, Paul Azaceta. Now we have new information about that upcoming monthly horror series, called Outcast.

Outcast is to follow the character Kyle Barnes, who is a man plagued by demonic possessions. In his youth, Kyle’s mother was possessed, and when the series starts he is at the lowest point in his life and ready to finally look into what has been happen to and around him all these years. Kyle will dive deep into the horrific world of possessions and exorcisms, meeting many other characters along the way…and likely losing more than a fair share if Kirkman’s writing has shown us anything about his style of story telling.

Kirkman has been working on the project for two years and claims to already have the ending fully mapped out. Never-the-less, he claims it will be a big and epic tale full of drama, a large cast, and a world threatening problem. This comic might even already be lined up for a TV series, as Kirkman has been in talks with Fox International about the series.

Accompanying Kirkman’s dark and dramatic writing for this series will be the moody art of Paul Azaceta, who has shown he can draw horror on many great titles like Graveyard of Empires, BPRD, and Potter’s Field. This will be Azaceta’s first long run on comic series, having previously only done short story arcs and miniseries. But Kirkman has full confidence in Azaceta, calling him a perfect fit for the series with his strong atmospheric style.

Outcast wont be in stores until next year, but check back regularly for more news on the comic as it comes out.
