Disney has confirmed that Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX have a release dates. In the annual shareholders letter, CEO Bob Iger had this to say on the subject:
“As one of the few people allowed to visit the set during filming… and one of the fewer who’s seen most of the footage… I can assure the millions of ‘Star Wars’ fans who have spent the last decade hoping for a new movie this one will be worth the wait. And it’s only the beginning of a new era of exceptional ‘Star Wars’ storytelling; next year we’ll release our first standalone More >

The first of these events is the first ever LBCE Cosplay Contest, with $3000 in cash prizes. The popular Spider-Man event, Spider-Verse, is very reliant on what would traditionally be peripheral crossover books in most major Marvel events. Rather than using the Spider-Verse tie-ins as a cheap ploy to sell additional books or up the sales numbers on lower selling series, the Spider-Verse tie-ins have all played an integral part in telling the story of Spider-Men from every universe coming together to fight the deadly Inheritors. Almost every issue of the main Spider-Man title, Amazing Spider-Man, has been filled with captions serving as cliff notes that point the reader off in different directions where subplots continue and More >
“There is nothing wrong with typical Stan Lee hyperbole“. That was the line I’ll remember most from Executive Editor Tom Brevoort as far as today’s press conference goes. Why? Because today they officially announced and detailed the upcoming Marvel mega event, Secret Wars. In a press conference that took place at New York City’s infamous Midtown Comics, Brevoort and Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso attempted to break the internet with plans for the upcoming event and the future of the Marvel Universe. Immediately afterwards I spoke to several other journalists, retailers, and fans. Immediately after the video below, showing the entirety More >
Based on several Batman storylines of the New 52 era of comics, the Batman Vs Robin animated film from DC and Warner Bros Animation looks to play perfectly as a sequel to the Son of Batman direct-to-video animated film. Batman Vs Robin is to adapt the Court of Owls and Night of Owls storylines from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s run on Batman that started in 2011. However, it also looks to include aspects of the opening Batman and Robin storyline of the New 52 by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, which focused on Damian defying his father and going More >
Last Friday, shortly after the closure of Image Expo 2015 and its related retailer summit, comic creator Chip Zdarsky sat down for a signing at a San Francisco sex shop, Good Vibrations. For most comic creators this might be an odd place for a signing, but for the artist behind Sex Criminals and so many other hilarious writings, drawings, and antics this was the perfect stage for Mr. Zdarsky. Recently Chip and Sex Criminals co-creator, Matt Fraction, published an adult book based on the letters column for their comic series, entitled Just The Tips. Just The Tips, which was released in More >
Some of you fans, customers, and retailers may have noticed something a little off from one of Diamond’s top tier comic publishers yesterday. IDW released zero comics on January 14th, the second comic book release day of 2015. If you didn’t notice it we consider that very understandable considering all the focus on Marvel’s Star Wars #1 release. Those who did catch the lack of comics from San Diego’s popular comic publisher might have simply presumed it was to avoid releases being buried under the flood of Star Wars variants and sheer quantity of Marvel’s major 2015 release. But this More >
To coincide with today’s TCA press tour this afternoon Yahoo! released a fun 2 minute video to announce the March 17th season 6 premier of the show that just can’t be stopped. Set to debut on Yahoo! Screen, the season will open with a 2 episode premier, followed by a new first run episode every Tuesday. Going against the current norm of internet based television programming having the entire season released all at once.
“I feel in my old school bones — like they are very old, these bones — so it feels to me like the right way to do it. I More >
Some time ago we announced that Vertigo’s 28-issue series, iZombie, which spun out of House of Mystery would be made into a TV series for CW. Since then we’ve seen photos, teasers, and more that have excited fans of the comic and led to increased sales in collected editions of the new completed series. But today we finally get a trailer that gives us a proper glimpse of what to expect from the iZombie TV series when it hits CW on Tuesday, March 17th.
Now we’re already seeing that this TV series looks like it will be very different from the More >
Matt Murdock might not be the type of hero who can enjoy watching television, but that is what I suppose his fans are for, to give him the viewership he couldn’t enjoy giving himself. That’s right Daredevil fans, headway is being made on the new Netflix Daredevil TV series with a premiere date of April 10th! Yes, almost a month earlier than the rumored May release date, Netflix will place all 13 episodes online on April 10th, guaranteeing a fair amount of superhero binge watching. Remember, this series is set in the Marvel cinematic universe, with the Netflix subset of More >
