DeadpoolYesterday, Twentieth Century Fox finally made the announcement many Marvel fans have been dying to hear: the Deadpool movie has been green lit. While the studio has still yet to sign on actor Ryan Reynolds, he is the pursued actor for the titular role and unlikely to say no towards reprising his Wolverine: Origins role, considering it was his voice that graced the popular “leaked” footage post-San Diego Comic Con. The director will be Tim Miller, who was nominated for an Academy Award directing his animated short, Rockfish, just over a decade ago. This will be Miller’s first full-length film as a director, but fans will undoubtedly look past that in the general excitement to see Deadpool leave the limbo of ‘Development Hell’ for its eventual and long awaited cinematic release. Reynolds, meanwhile, has been pointing towards the leaked trailer as being a catalyst for driving interest back towards the production of this film, which now has a release date scheduled for February 12th of 2016. This “leaked” footage saw several online video services remove the content at Fox’s request before, but now seems to be freely available without much of a hunt. Never-the-less, if you haven’t already seen the hilarious CG test footage, with voice work by Ryan Reynolds, we highly recommend you give it a watch below. If nothing else it will certainly get you rather excited for the films release in just over a year and a half, hoping that the movie is half as funny as the 2-minute clip provided.
