In about 16 days the SG2M team will be traveling to Long Beach, CA to attend one of our absolute favorite shows. This is the 6th year for the Long Beach Comic Con, which will be taking place at the beautiful Long Beach Convention Center September 27th and 28th.

For those of you unaware of this show and long for the days of what San Diego Comic Con USED to be like, this is definitely the show for you! LBCC is much more comic focused with significantly less chaos, which provides a far more “intimate” setting for fans to meet and interact with some of their favorite creators.

To celebrate their 6 year anniversary, LBCC is announcing, for the first time, Guests of Honor for this year’s show. The list includes:

“We’re thrilled to have more guests at this year’s show than we’ve ever had before,” said Martha Donato, Long Beach Comic Con Executive Director and Co-Founder. “We recognize that attending conventions is a major commitment for comic book creators and we want to honor and celebrate some of the people who’ve joined us for six years running, as well as the writers and artists who are traveling across the country to attend our convention for the first time.”

This year will also feature a Cosplay contest Saturday evening hosted by Nerds Like Us. Stop by their booth on the exhibit hall floor to sign up. All costumes must be hand-made, and are subject to inspection by our panel of judges. The panel of judges includes: Host: Bernie Bregman, Nerds Like Us; Vegas Power Girl, Raychul Moore, Castle Corsetry & Reevz FX.

Prizes will be awarded in several categories:

Best in Show
Best Hero
Best Villain
Best Youth (kids 12 and under)
Funniest
Best TV/Movie
Best Sci-Fi
Judge’s Choice

This year will also see an increase and broadening in panels for attendees from all kinds of fandoms.

“Our programming has been a huge growth area for us this year,” said Phil Lawrence, Co-founder and Sales Director of Long Beach Comic Con. “We’re running more than 80 high quality panels over two days. There’s something for every fan, whether you want to hear about the latest from Image Comics or need tips for designing and building your first cosplay.”
