Many people look at New York Comic Con as the second San Diego Comic Con International of each year lately. Fans get updates on news announced earlier in the year on the other side of America and panels seem to replicate or compliment one another. It’s a rather awesome thing, as if the show’s were actually related. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see Nickelodeon playing out a lot of the same promotional activities at this year’s New York Comic Con as they did in San Diego, but with keen New York exclusive twists. Once more the network is hosting an Avatar themed panel with the cast and creators of Legend of Korra, once more they will premiere an episode of Legend of Korra early at the con, and once more there will be a brand new poster with exclusive artwork. The new poster features the current avatar, Korra, and the first avatar, Wan, who will be making his first appearance later this season. New York Comic Con attendees can get one of these posters by going to the Legend of Korra signing at the convention, but get there quick! If these posters are anything like the past few San Diego Comic Con ones, they’ll run out quick, just like wrist bands for the signing.

Korra NYCC 13 Poster

Bryan Konietzko posted about the poster on his Tumblr earlier today, saying “This one took a village: The rough was drawn by Joaquim Dos Santos and me; the cleanup was done by Christie Tseng, Angela Song Mueller, and Christine Bian; and I did the color. I’m really happy with how it came out, and I think it might be my favorite poster that we’ve ever done.”

The Legend of Korra panel will take place on Saturday, October 12th at 11:00AM in the Empire Stage room (Room #1-E). On panel will be creators Bryan Konietzko and Joaquim Dos Santos as well as voice actors Janet Varney (Korra) and PJ Byrne (Bolin). If you’re in attendance, you can check out the next episode of Korra a week early and also ask all your burning Avatar questions.
