LOLA-01f-WonderConAnaheim-OUMAspen MLT, fresh off celebrating their 10th anniversary at the show last year, is showing up to Wondercon in an even bigger way for 2014! If you thought last years celebration was big, wait until you read what they’re doing now. First off, throughout the weekend you’ll find Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro (Overtaken), Peter Steigerwald (The Zoo Hunters), Vince Hernandez (Fathom: Kiani), Mark Roslan (BubbleGun), Siya Oum (Lola XOXO), J.T. Krul (Soulfire), Nei Ruffino (Soulfire), David Wohl (Fathom), Ale Garza (Fathom), and Oliver Nome (Fathom: Kiani) appearing throughout the weekend at the Aspen Comics Booth (Booth #601). Speaking of Siya Oum, last week her brand new series, Lola XOXO, hit stores and it is stunning both in story and art. To celebrate the new series at the show, not only will be Oum be on hand signing your copies of Lola XOXO, but Aspen has a brand new Lola XOXO #1 Wondercon Variant cover (Limited to 500 copies) drawn by her. But that isn’t the only Aspen exclusive for Wondercon or even the only Wondercon Aspen exclusive drawn by Oum. Siya Oum has also provided art to the Wondercon exclusive variant cover of Fathom: Kiani #1 (also Limited to 500 copies). Aspen will also be offering a new set of their industry-leading art prints featuring popular, recent cover art by Michael Turner, Siya Oum and Eric “Ebas” Basaldua. Each print is hand-numbered and highly limited. Yet that isn’t even the big news for Aspen. Beyond all the exclusive items Aspen will have for sale, the indie comic company founded by Michael Turner will be doing their largest-ever free giveaway, featuring over 25,000 free comics over the course of the con weekend! Let me say that again: 25,000 FREE ASPEN COMICS!!!

The amount of incredibly cool Aspen exclusive and free items is undoubtedly staggering, but the company isn’t stopping there, as on Saturday from 4PM to 5PM at their booth, the publisher will be hosting a special “Free Sketch Hour” for fans featuring popular Aspen cover artists Ale Garza and Oliver Nome. Aspen encourages fans to arrive early, as this event will be first come-first serve only. Before that on Saturday, Aspen will also host its traditional Aspen Panel in Room 208 at 2:30pm. There, the creator and editorial filled panel will reveal looks at their upcoming new 2014 titles including Lola XOXO, Jirni Volume 2, Damsels in Excess, The Zoo Hunters, and more. All fans in attendance will receive a free gift courtesy of Aspen Comics, following their special one-on-one Q&A with fans. It apparently does pay to be an Aspen fan at Wondercon.

Now Aspen is known for the amazing art that Michael Turner helped found the company with and continues to grace the covers and interiors of the publisher’s many great books to this day. Aspen, over its decade plus of publication has also brought many young and talented creators into the industry and helped them blossom into A-list artists throughout the industry. If you’re an artist currently hoping to break in and would love the advantage of working at Aspen then you’re in luck if your in attendance of Wondercon this year. Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez will be holding Aspen Comics Portfolio Reviews in Room 206B from 1:30-2:30 on all three days of the con! Once again, Aspen strongly encourages those looking to get reviewed to arrive, early as spots are limited to one hour.
