Wondercon ’14: Dark Horse Comics
Dark Horse has recently release quite a few great new comic series, continuing many of their stunning licensed titles from video games and the Whedonverse, as well as producing amazing original and new content from top comic creators. The return of the Buffy, Angel, Serenity, and Tomb Raider series into comics are all quite amazing, and to celebrate Dark Horse is bringing many of the creators behind those comics out to this year’s Wondercon! On top of that, this is Dark Horse’s last year with the Star Wars license they have so beautifully handled over the past twenty years, so this might be one of your last chances to get your incredible Dark Horse Star Wars comics signed at the Dark Horse booth! Today Dark Horse listed their signing and panel schedule, as well as their list of comic exclusives, so you might better plan out your Wondercon trip.
Dark Horse will be at Wondercon for all three days of the show, April 18th through the 20th, at their booth (Booth #519). There they will have many various Dark Horse items for sale, including exclusive comics, and have free comics, prints, and posters available at each signing! All comics featuring WonderCon exclusive variant covers will be available in limited quantities, so make sure you go after those quick. Last year many of those variants sold out very early on. Furthermore, all proceeds from the convention variant of The Witcher #1 will benefit Sharon and Stan Sakai, helping the Sakai’s cover recent medical bills that are unfortunately effecting them. I will personally add the Sakais are incredibly sweet people, and Stan Sakai is a brilliant artist, very much deserving of any help they can receive. I highly recommend picking up The Witcher #1 variant and the upcoming The Sakai Project book, not only because it helps them out, but because they are both filled with incredibly beautiful artwork! Outside of The Witcher exclusive variant, Dark Horse is bringing an all-new variant cover for the critically acclaimed Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #1 with cover by Tomb Raider art director Brian Horton! Limited to just 1,000 copies, these are sure to be scarce. But if you’re more of a fan of the male vampires in the Buffy-verse, than you’ll love that Dark Horse is also doing a variant for Angel & Faith Season Ten #1, by Buffy cover artist Steve Morris. Again, with only 500 copies produced, these will go fast. Both of these special WonderCon exclusives will retail for $5 and are limited to five per person. But that’s not all, as there will also be a limited-edition Itty Bitty Hellboy hardcover available for just $20 and a limited edition hardcover of The Last of Us: American Dreams, from Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl) and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann. The Last of US hardcover collects the comics that officially lead-in to the game and will actually first be available at PAX East this weekend. The Last of Us: American Dreams hardcover will only be at Wondercon in very limited quantities for $24.99. Better hop on those quick!
