As we mentioned in one of our FQC’s at the beginning of the month, Marvel was looking to make a new TV series at ABC to tie in with the Marvel movie-verse. More recent news added that with Joss Whedon’s new contract to direct the Avengers sequel and guide the Marvel movie-verse, he would in some way be attached to the ABC TV series if it ever got off the ground. Well, it looks like that might just happen as The Wrap reports on some breaking Marvel media news. It seems ABC has entered into an agreement with the folks over at Marvel to get a pilot underway about S.H.I.E.L.D. Set in the same universe as the popular films, there is little else known about what this S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series will be about. What we do know is that Joss Whedon will be writing the script for the pilot alongside his brother, Jed, and sister-in-law, Maurissa Tancharoen. All three are extremely skilled and respected television writers, with works such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and Spartacus on their resumes. If the series gets green lit, Whedon will also be on as the executive producer, along with Jed, Maurissa, Jeffrey Bell, and famed comic writer, Jeph Loeb of Marvel TV. Of course, with such a stunning crew already on-board and a franchise worth more than millions, it would take some real idiots at ABC not to get this show on the air. So here’s looking forward to a brand new Marvel live action series sometime in the next year or two.
