In many modern action and adventure films it is not uncommon to find a few dead bodies on set, covered in make up to add to the gravity of a scene. But it is rather uncommon to come across a real corpse on your set while preparing to shoot a scene. Unfortunately for all parties that happened today on the set of Avengers 2, currently filming in Seoul, Korea. Joss Whedon was preparing to film on Mapo Bridge, a major bridge with high traffic that crosses over the Han River in Seoul. This bridge also has a sad reputation for being the site of many suicides and suicide attempts. After recently filming several scenes with the newly casted Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson), the crew had begun work on shutting down the bridge to film a large scene with over hundred cars strategically being used as props for the scene. As Whedon had publicly apologized for a few days ago, this was set to shut the bridge down from 6AM to 5:30PM local time. But it was reported that around 2:15PM local time one of the film’s security guards noticed a body floating in the river below the bridge. As one might expect, this shut down production while an investigation could be made into the identity of the body and further details could be sussed out. It is unknown how long this will stop production or if it will cause the scene from being unable to film. It is certainly not good news for any one though and a dark start to production on a film millions of fans are looking forward to.
