2014 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards at San Diego Comic Con
Last Friday was the 26th annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, which were held in the Indigo Ballroom at the Bayfront San Diego Hilton during Comic-Con. For those of you unaware the Eisner Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comic book industry. Eisner’s are awarded to creators in 30 different categories ranging from best letterer to best ongoing new series. All nominations are for work that was published in 2013. Now without further ado, here are your Will Eisner Award winners of 2014

Some of these come as no surprise. The second I finished reading Sex Criminals #1 I knew I had just read the next “Best New Series” award winner. Saga is still as amazing as the day it started so again no surprise that it took home “Best Ongoing Series,” that its scribe, Brian K. Vaughn, left that night with the best writer award, and that its artist, Fiona Staples, took home “Best Painter/Multimedia Artist.”
There were so many great comics out there this year, the judges I am sure had a difficult time with some of these choices. To all the winners of this year’s Eisner Awards, we here at SG2M want to say congratulations, and thank you for all your hard work.

He started out reading GI Joe comics when he was a kid, moving on to collecting Star Wars comics exclusively, while reading the occasional title off the rack in a local drug store...just to "check in" with the comic world.
