Dwayne Johnson Joins The DC Cinematic Universe
FINALLY! The Rock…has confirmed…he’s Black…Adam!
If you are not a professional wrestling fan then that joke fell flat, however, the news is indeed true, the WWE/Hollywood Superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be portraying fan favorite supervillain Black Adam in an upcoming Shazam movie. Rumors had been swirling around the internet for quite some time regarding his involvement with DC and their cinematic universe. At one point it was speculated that he would be playing Shazam aka Captain Marvel in the film. Many fans felt that he would be a much better choice for Captain Marvel’s arch-nemesis. Then on Wednesday Johnson tweeted the following:
“‘Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot.’ My honor to become… #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics,” he wrote, along with a photo of the two comic characters duking it out.
It was nice to see a casting choice come out of Warner Bros for the DC Cinematic Universe that everyone relatively seemed to be excited about. I for one think he is going to be a great Black Adam.
Currently, Variety is reporting that the script for the upcoming project has Black Adam as not so much a villain but “more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name.”
As of yet there is no word on whether or not Johnson’s Black Adam will be added to the long list of cameos slated for 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.
