GameofThrones5When last we left the world of Westeros, via HBO’s popular TV series Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen set powerfully across the narrow sea as the ruler of Meereen and a rather powerful ex-slave army. Theon Greyjoy still found himself painfully enslaved to the Boltons, while Davos Seaworth and Stannis Baratheon prepared to journey North. Another so-called King had fallen, as has a wonderful prince, the Starks are still spread throughout the land without any claim to their heritage, and everyone’s favorite dwarf is currently a fugitive. So what could possibly unfold come season 5? So very much more! Readers of the books already know much of what is to come in this eventful season, but undoubtedly a fair amount will be added for the TV show as the events of book 4 and 5 of A Song of Ice and Fire continue to unfold on screen. Yet with book 6 still being written by creator George RR Martin, now is where I foresee the television show’s creators working hard to slow the pace at which they follow the words of the novels and instead starting finding TV show exclusive material. Of course, I for one would still love a multi-season break to tell the tales of Dunk and Egg from the Hedge Knight prequels. Yet, as you’ll see in the trailer for Season 5 of Game of Thrones down below, one way or another HBO shows no signs of slowing down the intense drama and action of this series in the upcoming episodes.

Obviously we have a lot going on in Season 5, as you can see Tyrion finding his way to a new land, the beauty of the Dorne revealed, its wonderful ‘Sand Snakes’, Arya’s new destiny, and more all unfolding beneath TV on the Radio’s cover of David Bowie’s Heroes (a wonderful musical choice). Color me excited. Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres on HBO this April, on Sunday the 12th. Be prepared.
