Teen Titans Earth OneDC’s new Earth One series of original graphic novels have been a successful surprise in reviving classic DC comic characters in a more modern style by top tier comic creators. So far they have released Superman: Earth One by J. Michael Staczynski (Thor, Superman) and Shane Davis, and Batman: Earth One by Geoff Johns (Justice League, Aquaman) and Gary Frank (Action Comics, Justice League). With Wonder Woman: Earth One on the way from Grant Morrison (Final Crisis, Batman & Robin) and Yanick Paquette (Swamp Thing, Ultimate X-Men), now titled Wonder Woman: The Trial of Diana Prince, fans have been quite curious what character would follow DC’s trinity in a new Earth One revival. Well, on the verge of Emerald City Comic Con, DC has new news on not what individual character will next appear in the Earth One format…but rather what team of characters will get an Earth One release. Surprisingly this is not the Justice League, but an equally familiar group of younger heroes that go by the name of Teen Titans!

Writer Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth, Justice League Dark) and artists Terry and Rachel Dodson (Uncanny X-Men, Wonder Woman) are coming together for Teen Titans: Earth One, a new original graphic novel that will focus on Victor Stone, Tara Markov, Joey Wilson, and Gar Logan, 4 teenagers who just never felt like normal kids… but they had no idea how right they were. Their seemingly idyllic Oregon upbringing hides a secret—one that will bring killers, shamans, and extraterrestrials down on their heads, and force them into an alliance that could shake the planet to its foundations! It’s an unexpected team of Cyborg, Terra, Jericho, and Beast Boy along with presumably a few other characters based on the cover (seen to the right), and also leads me to believe we should be seeing at least a bit of an Earth One Deathstroke in the series.

Well, rather than tease you, I can at least be a bit direct, as Jeff Lemire has already admitted to Starfire, Raven, and Slade Wilson being in the first volume of the series of graphic novels. But we won’t see any sidekicks like Robin, Aqualad, or Wonder Girl just yet, because the adult superheroes don’t exist yet…at least not publicly, so there are certainly no teenage partners for them. In an interview over at Comic Book Resources, Dodson shares some exclusive interior artwork and Lemire talks a bit more about the book and his influences from Marv Wolfman’s stunning run on the New Teen Titans series of the 1980′s.

Teen Titans: Earth One volume 1 should be in comic book stores November 19th, 2014 and everywhere books are sold by November 25th, 2014. Batman: Earth One volume 2, Superman: Earth One volume 3 (with new artist Adrian Syaf taking over for Shane Davis), and Wonder Woman: Earth One volume 1 should all ideally see release some time in 2015.
