Original Art From Gotham By Midnight #1 All Up For Sale
Comic art collecting can often be an expensive hobby, but it is also quite rewarding to see the pages from your favorite comics as they were originally drawn. In the case of DC Comic’s newest on-going series, Gotham by Midnight, that original art is quite incredible. I could even say the original art looks better than what was seen on the printed page. But now you can make that judgement for yourself and possibly add or start your art collection today. Gotham by Midnight artist, Ben Templesmith, has put up the entire first issue’s worth of original art, including the cover, up for sale on his website. The pages start as low as $100 a piece, which is quite reasonable if not outright incredible for a comic page from a first issue. These prices are only made better knowing they’re Ben Templesmith originals.
Many likely know Templesmith more for his popular IDW comic series turned film, 30 Days of Night, which he did alongside writer Steve Niles. Templesmith has since garnered quite the cult following and worked on many amazing titles like Fell, Wormwood, Criminal Macabre, and Ten Grand. Gotham by Midnight is his first official DC comic and follows Detective Jim Corrigan and his rag-tag team of paranormal investigators as they explore the unsolvable mysteries of Gotham City, the home of batman. Artwork from the first issue features Corrigan, Commissioner Gordon, Batman, and the infamous Slaughter Swamp location. Some of the pages have already been snatched up, but there is quite a few still available for sale. But regardless of whether you’re putting down your money for the original artwork or not, you can view and purchase it at Templesmith’s website 78Squid or take a peek at thumbnails for the original art below:
Issue #2 of Gotham by Midnight hits stores on December 24th. For more on Ben Templesmith, his art, and to purchase other pieces from him, check out his 78Squid or his main website.
