Swords of Sorrow 4 cosplayThe all female crossover event that is rocking Dynamite Entertainment has just got some more incredible woman power behind it with the recently announced cosplay cover for issue #4. As if Gail Simone’s incredibly epic crossover series, Swords of Sorrow, wasn’t already empowering on all things female with strong female casts, creative teams, and stories, now they’re bringing out the female cosplayers for a great and unique cover. The cover loosely replicates the J. Scott Campbell cover to issue #1 of Swords of Sorrow, seen below. It features four of the main characters working together in the series, despite their traditionally separate roles in comics, novels, dimensions, and timelines. The characters making their way to the cover are Red Sonja, Jana “Jungle Girl” Sky-Born, Vampirella, and Dejah Thoris. Cosplaying these characters are renowned costumers, Tabitha Lyons, Mojo Jones, Tasha Cosplay Mackenzie, Chiquitita cosplay, all native to the United Kingdom along with their talented cosplay photographer, Creative Edge Studios.

“This is kind of a dream come true for me,” writer Gail Simone stated. “So many times, at conventions, I’ve seen magnificent cosplayers beautifully photographed in these incredible poses, and I’ve often thought, ‘Wow, that should be a cover.’ But it never seems to happen! Then I saw this shot, just as a thumbnail, on social media, and it was so perfectly realized, with cosplayers so spot-on and just so all-around gorgeous, at first I was convinced it was a painting of the cover of our first issue. It took a moment to realize the depth of their remarkable re-creation. I love it, and I’m thrilled to have this be our first cosplay cover. I hope it’s the first of many. Incredible work to everyone involved, the cosplayers, photographer and costume maker all are astounding!”
