SupermanJRJRIt’s just one month until Geoff Johns final issue of Superman, as the creator once more readies to walk away from the near omnipotent Kryptonian he’s written so well. This time, however, he leaves us with a few parting words right after the penultimate issue that has left Superman with a new power! Read his thoughts below and see if you can catch some of the more interesting tidbits hidden throughout:

Superman #38 came out yesterday and JR and I wanted to say thank you, because the issue sold out!

I have to admit, it’s a little bittersweet, because not only is it our final chapter of the Ulysses storyline, it’s also the penultimate issue to my short run on the title with the great and amazing John Romita Jr., as issue #39 will be my last.

I’m incredibly honored to have been the lucky writer working alongside JR on his first-ever monthly book for DC Comics and I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done, especially the final issue of the run which dives deeper into the fallout from Superman’s new power.

You’ll find out the next team on Superman very soon. As for what’s next for me in the comic world besides JUSTICE LEAGUE with the amazing and talented Jason Fabok, you’ll have to ask my longtime friend and collaborator, the great Gary Frank…

So who will take over the reigns of writing Superman come issue #40? Undoubtedly will get news on that shortly, but the bigger question is can they fill Geoff’s well written shoes? We also know Geoff is staying on the main Justice League title, with the new addition of talented artist Jason Fabok, but what is Geoff working on with Gary Frank? Gary Frank has done the art on many of Geoff’s works, from Superman comics to Shazam tales, Frank has even drawn Geoff’s Batman: Earth One graphic novels. These two creators pair up can only mean good things, so we’re excited to report to you all what the future holds for this team as soon as it is announced!
