Spider-Gwen Continues This Fall In New Series
Gwen Stacy’s revival in Marvel comics as Spider-Gwen has brought a lot of readers to the youthful book that tells an alternate tale of a character that had originally been killed off several decades ago. Her first appearance in the Edge of Spider-Verse mini-series that tied into last Fall’s big Spider-Man event definitely caught fans hearts and many readers gladly dove into the characters self-titled on-going series, Spider-Gwen, this spring. But as the events of Secret Wars has so many Marvel comic titles ending, it seems even the popular and high selling Spider-Gwen comic couldn’t escape cancellation. But thankfully, the series ending wont mean an end to the character, its creative team, or even its title as the series is relaunched with all its familiar faces this Fall! Yes, today Marvel made announcements of a new Spider-Gwen #1 hitting stores this Fall, with no specified date yet announced.
The brand new Spider-Gwen #1 will return the creative team of Jason Latour on writing duties, with Robbi Rodriguez and Rico Renzi on art. If you haven’t been reading Spider-Gwen, this new #1 issue will be your chance to jump in, with a clean entry point into the character that has the world buzzing! Returning fans will also finally get the answers they’ve all been waiting for. The secret history of Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker will finally be revealed, while someone out there has recreated Peter Parker’s Lizard formula (the same formula that ultimately cost him his life and branded Gwen a fugitive) and she won’t let it happen again! But with NYPD Captain Frank Castle and the Kingpin of Crime Matt Murdock both on her tail, that’ll prove easier said than done. Who could be behind all of this? The answers will shock you! Latour has even stated “We’ll also finally meet Norman and Harry Osborn!”
“This book has defied all expectations, mine included, and has continued to thrive and grow,” says series writer Jason Latour, in an interview with Marvel.com. “I can’t tell you how precious of an experience that makes it. Re-launching and being put out there on the front lines as a tent pole kind of title really is a tremendous opportunity to open our doors to everyone again.” Check out Spider-Gwen #1 when it relaunches later this year!
